# Turn on your Mac’s safety settings. And keep them on.

> Free checks show which Mac settings are off. The Proof plan fixes them once the owner says yes, and keeps them fixed. Read how each change is approved.

safer settings guide

cybee checks 118 settings on every Mac for free, such as disk encryption and screen lock, and tells you which ones are off. On the Proof plan it switches them on once the owner says yes, and switches them back if anyone changes them.

Ask your AI assistant

Which settings are off on our Macs?

## What the check tells you

cybee compares 118 settings on each Mac with the CIS Benchmark and tells you which ones are off. Checking is free on every Mac, and it changes nothing.

**Q:** What is the CIS Benchmark?

### Where the checks come from.

The CIS Benchmark is a public, industry maintained list of the safest settings for macOS. Many compliance frameworks accept it as a baseline for secure settings.

cybee follows the public benchmark. It has no formal relationship with CIS, the group that publishes it.

118 CIS Benchmark checks. 10 compliance frameworks reported, technical controls only.

**Q:** What does hardening mean?

### What hardening means.

Your Mac has its own safety switches, such as disk encryption, screen lock and Gatekeeper, which lets only known apps open. Hardening means setting them the way the CIS Benchmark says, and keeping them there.

This site calls it safer settings.

Figure: Three of the 118 checks on Mira’s Mac. One is off.

| The answer says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| On | The setting is the safe way. | Nothing. |
| Off | The check failed. The setting is not the safe way. | Read the proposed change, then let the owner decide. |
| Not observed | cybee has not heard from that Mac lately, for example because it is offline. That is not the same as a failed check. | Let the Mac come online, then ask again. |

## Read the proposed change

Before a setting changes, ask your AI assistant what will change and what it means for the person at that Mac.

Ask your AI assistant

Show the proposed hardening changes for this Mac. Explain the effect on my work and how to undo them.

1

Check the Mac and the setting.

The answer names both. Make sure it is the Mac you meant.

2

The owner says yes.

cybee asks the person at that Mac, in plain words, on their own screen. Nothing changes until they agree.

What you will see: their yes, with the time, in the next answer.

3

Read the new record.

Ask again and check that the setting is on before you call it done.

Figure: The owner decides, on her own Mac.

The owner decides

A change asked for in a chat still waits for the owner’s yes. Pasting a client’s questionnaire into the chat approves nothing.

## One setting, from finding to result

Mira’s screen lock had been off since Thursday afternoon. Here is the same setting in two records, before and after she said yes.

Figure: Two records, kept apart. The fix at 09:42 does not change what was true on Thursday.

Keep both. The later record shows the setting is on now. The earlier one still shows that it was off, and since when. A Trust Passport shows that history to a client, with its dates.

Example only. It shows one setting on one Mac, not what suits every person.

## Keep the setting in place

Some settings get switched off over time. On the Proof plan, cybee keeps the settings the owner has agreed to: if one moves, cybee switches it back. The owner is the person who uses that Mac. A setting nobody agreed to is never changed.

Before anyone says yes to a change, ask how it affects that person’s work and how to undo it.

**Q:** Which profile do my Macs use?

### Three profiles.

The Proof plan has three profiles, named essential, balanced and fortress. A profile is the set of settings cybee keeps in place.

Ask your AI assistant which profile each Mac uses and what it would change, before you roll it out to the team.

Safer settings on each plan, per Mac.

| What you get | Free | Proof plan |
|---|---|---|
| 118 safety checks on each Mac | Checked, with what is off | Checked, with what is off |
| Weak settings fixed | Not included | After the owner says yes |
| Settings switched back when someone changes them | Not included | While you pay |

## Trial, price and when payment stops

Proof plan

CHF 9 per Mac per month, or 90 a year. The same number in CHF, EUR, USD or GBP, excluding tax.

[Everything the Proof plan adds](https://cybee.ai/pricing/#plans)

You can try it for 14 days first:

1

Install cybee on your Macs.

Protection and the checks are free from the start. [Install guide](https://cybee.ai/docs/install/)

2

Ask your AI assistant for a paid feature.

For example, ask for security training.

3

Open the Stripe link in the chat.

Payment happens in Stripe. This website has no checkout.

### If payment stops

- The settings already applied stay on the Mac.

- cybee stops switching them back if they change.

- After the grace period, the account returns to the free plan, with its protection, alerts and checks.

Ask for the grace period before you subscribe. [What stays and what stops](https://cybee.ai/pricing/#stops)

## If a setting still needs attention

### The answer says a check was not observed

cybee has not heard from that Mac lately. That is not the same as off. Let the Mac come online, then ask again.

### The owner has not said yes

Nothing changes until they do. The setting stays off, and the record says so.

### The Fix button says Proof plan

Fixing a setting from the chat is on the Proof plan. To try it, ask your AI assistant for a paid feature, such as security training. The Stripe link for the 14 day trial arrives in the chat.

### A setting is off again

On the Proof plan, cybee switches it back. On the free plan, the next check shows it as off.

### A safer setting gets in someone’s way

Ask your AI assistant what the setting does for that Mac and how to undo it. Or email [hello@cybee.ai](mailto:hello@cybee.ai) with the setting and the Mac.

Still stuck

Email [hello@cybee.ai](mailto:hello@cybee.ai) with the Mac model, the setting and what the answer said. Leave out your admin token and any password. We answer within one working day, and the Proof plan adds chat support.
