uninstall

Run one line in Terminal on the Mac. Cybee puts back the settings it changed first, then removes itself. The Mac is marked removed on your company’s list on its own.

## Two lines, one result

Both lines do the same thing, and both ask for the Mac’s password.

### On the Mac, with Cybee on it

`sudo cybee uninstall`

### When Cybee itself is already gone

`curl -sSf https://delete.cybee.dev | sudo sh`

This second line also works when the `cybee` command is no longer on the Mac.

1

Open Terminal.

Press `Command` and `Space`, type Terminal, press `Return`. You can also find it in Applications, in the Utilities folder.

2

Type one of the two lines and press `Return`.

Type it exactly as it is written here.

3

Type your Mac’s password.

Nothing shows while you type. Press `Return` when you are done.

## What it removes, in order

1

Your settings go back first.

Every setting Cybee changed is put back, so the Mac is as it was before the install.

2

Then Cybee itself.

The protection that runs in the background, the menu bar app and the `cybee` command.

3

Then what it kept on this Mac.

The quarantine folder and the records kept on the Mac, the AI activity record among them.

4

The Mac leaves the company.

It is marked removed on your company’s list on its own. Nobody has to remove it in the chat.

## What Terminal shows

On an employee’s Mac, everything is removed and Terminal asks nothing after the password. On an admin’s Mac, it asks one question.

Figure: On an admin’s Mac, shortened. Studio Nord is a made up company.

## On an admin’s Mac

| Whose Mac | What the uninstall does |
|---|---|
| An employee’s Mac | Removes everything. It asks nothing. |
| An admin’s Mac | Asks whether to keep your AI chats connected to the company. By default they stay connected, and you stay an admin. |
| An admin’s Mac, with `--all` | Also removes the chat connections and your admin key. |

To remove everything on an admin’s Mac, type `sudo cybee uninstall --all`.

If you kept your chats connected, you can come back later. Ask the chat “invite me as admin”.

On a new Mac with the same Apple ID, Cybee finds your admin key in your iCloud Keychain and offers to rejoin the company.

## What stays with the company

- The Mac’s row stays on the company’s list, marked removed. Its alerts stay too.

- A Trust Passport already sealed is not affected. Its link keeps working until an admin withdraws it.

The AI activity record was only ever kept on the Mac, so it goes with the uninstall.

## A lost or wiped Mac

A Mac that is lost or wiped cannot run the uninstall. Ask your AI assistant to remove it, for example “remove Luca’s old Mac”. It asks you to confirm first.

A Mac that has not reported for 30 days is marked dormant. [When a Mac leaves the team](https://cybee.ai/docs/team-devices/#lost)

Not the same as revoking access

Removing a Mac from Cybee does not remove access to your company accounts or to client accounts, and it does not revoke API keys.
