Menu bar card

Click it and a card opens: whether this Mac is protected, and the one thing to do when there is one. The work happens in your AI assistant. The card is a glance.

`curl -sSf https://get.cybee.dev | sh`

From get.cybee.dev, Cybee’s install server. [Read the script](https://get.cybee.dev)

Run it in Terminal, a chat, your IDE or a CLI. Keep working where you started.

What the command does

- Installs a notarized agent on this Mac.

- Creates no account. The install is identified by a token.

- Starts protecting the device at once.

- Changes no setting until you confirm it in your AI assistant.

- Asks for this Mac’s administrator password once, and for no email address.

## What the card shows, from top to bottom.

The same card opens on every Mac with Cybee, for the person who uses it. It follows the Mac’s light or dark appearance.

1

The verdict and the Mac’s name.

For example “Protected. Nothing to do.” Beside the name sits the time of the last check or scan, such as Lena’s MacBook Air · last scan 22:10.

2

The one thing to do.

Only when there is one, with its button.

3

Four protections.

Four rows, in this order: Real time protection, Full Disk Access, Firewall, Disk encryption. Firewall is the one built into macOS. Each shows a blue tick, or an orange exclamation mark with the word in orange. Colour is never the only sign.

4

This Mac.

Processor: Normal or Busy. Memory: Fine, Tight or Full. Disk free in GB, with a bar only under 15 GB. Battery health, as the share of capacity left compared with new.

5

Scan now.

The button starts a real scan of this Mac, which takes minutes.

6

Managed by.

The footer names the company, for example Managed by Studio Nord · What they can see. The link explains what the company can see.

Figure: The menu bar card when everything is on. Example data. Studio Nord is a made up company.

## Seven states. Orange means you.

Orange is the only colour on the card that asks the person to act. Only one state asks for anything.

| State | The card says | What happens next |
|---|---|---|
| Protected | “Protected. Nothing to do.” | Nothing. |
| Scanning | “Scanning this Mac.” | A bar shows the progress and the number of files read. |
| Needs you | “Needs you. Full Disk Access is off.” | One button opens the right pane of System Settings. Cybee then checks that it worked. If real time protection stops, the button is Restart this Mac. |
| Threat stopped | “Protected. Cybee stopped a threat.” | Got it. |
| Lesson waiting | “Protected. A lesson is waiting.” | Start opens the lesson in the browser. |
| Offline | “Protected. Offline, reports when back.” | Protection keeps running. The Trust Passport does not count it as protected until it reports again. After about a day the card says “Needs you. Connect to the internet.” |
| Not answering | “Cybee is not answering.” | Usually right after an update. A restart fixes it. |

When protection is not running, the card offers no Not now, because waiting would leave the Mac unprotected. Lessons keep their Not now. When several things happen at once, the most important comes first and Next walks through the rest.

## The icon reads at a glance.

A small hexagon in the menu bar. It is never red, and it never shows an alarm word.

| The hexagon | It means |
|---|---|
| Filled blue | This Mac is protected. |
| Open blue ring | A scan is running, or the Mac is offline but fine. |
| Orange ring | You are needed: a switch is off, or the Mac has not reported for a day. |
| Violet | A lesson is waiting. |
| Grey | Cybee is not answering. |

## The “This Mac” numbers never leave the Mac.

Processor, memory, disk and battery are read on the Mac while the card is open. They are never sent to Cybee or to the company.

The card does not name the app that keeps the processor busy, because Cybee can only see which app is in front. [What the company can see](https://cybee.ai/security/employees/)

## It speaks up only when it matters.

If the person allows notifications (“Tell me when I am needed”), the Mac shows one only when something matters. Routine events never notify.

- Cybee moved the file to quarantine

- Cybee stopped the program

- Cybee put the setting back

- Cybee cut this Mac off the network. Only Cybee can reach it until your company releases it

- A security lesson from your company

- Needs you, when protection is not fully on

## For admins, the AI assistant is the view.

Today’s card is made for the person at the Mac. Admins see the whole team by asking in their AI assistant.

On the roadmap

### A card for admins, and an Ask button.

Ask will open the person’s own chat from the card.

today

### One card, in English.

The card is in English in this version. It shows no price, plan or payment wording.

## About the card.

**Q:** Why is there no Not now when Full Disk Access is off?

Without it, Cybee cannot watch what programs do, so this Mac is not protected. Putting it off would leave the Mac open. The button opens the right pane of System Settings, and Cybee checks that it worked.

**Q:** Does the card show fan speed or temperature?

No. It shows no graphics chip, fan, temperature, uptime or WiFi. Those are not security, and some of them need private parts of macOS.

**Q:** Is the card free?

Yes. The menu bar card comes with protection, which is free on every Mac. Lessons come with security training on the Cybee subscription. [See the plans](https://cybee.ai/pricing/)
